ASF Armchair Auction

ASF's annual Armchair Auction is almost here!

We'll be auctioning off more than 125 fabulous items on Saturday, Jan. 31, from noon until 6 p.m. The auction will be held in the Festival Theatre, and for the first time, buyers can pre-register and do their bidding in person!

As always, ClearChannel radio stations across the state will broadcast the auction live, and WSFA 12 News will broadcast the last hour on its network.

But you can lay claim to your items long before that! Online bidding begins Jan. 12 at www.armchairauction.cmarket.com.

Eyes of the Storm- Furniture of Home

After hurricane Katrina destroyed their community and halted their way of life, eighth graders from Alba Middle School in Bayou La Batre, Alabama, took to the streets armed with cameras to document their lives through the black and white images they captured. Assisted by middle schoolers from Elm Place Middle School in Highland Park, Illinois, the children processed their emotions with photography and poetry.

This video features photos and poetry from the "eyes of the storm: a community survives after Katrina" photo and book project and includes art and poetry submitted by middle schoolers from both Alba and Elm Place Middle Schools.
